Will my site or email go down during the transfer?

No — your DNS and mail routing stay exactly as they are until the transfer completes; only the registrar of record changes.

What if my domain is still locked?

Ask your current registrar to remove the transfer lock (sometimes called "registrar lock") — most let you do this from their dashboard in a couple of minutes.

I don't know my EPP code — now what?

Request it from your current registrar. By ICANN rules they must provide it within 5 days of your request.

Does a transfer reset my renewal date?

No — a transfer adds one year on top of whatever time you had left. You never lose paid time.
